Social Structure
In the Medieval times, social structure was a very important part of society. It was called Feudalism. It decided what you ate, where you lived, how much you earned plus much more. At the top of the chain was the King or Monarch, followed by the Nobles, then came the Knights and Vassals, and at the bottom was the Peasants and Serfs, although, everyone was a follower of the church, so they may have been placed next to or even above the monarch in the pyramid. The king owned all of the land, some he would give away to the nobles, knights and vassals, and a good amount was leased or bought by the peasants and serfs. The peasants and the serfs would also have to work for the king on his land, from mending fences to planting new crops. Everyone had their place, if your parents were peasants, you were most likely to be a peasant too. Feudalism changed the way of life and often made or broke some areas.
